About this rug

This rug takes a classic Persian-style floral and keeps it orderly. A warm tan field holds a mirror-image arrangement of palmettes, rosettes, and clay and sage leaves, framed by a brick red border between sage bands. Thin slate gray-blue vines link the motifs. On the 2' × 3' they are drawn wider and are easier to see. It is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face on a canvas backing. The medium pile is 0.39 in high, and the rug is 0.87 in thick overall: dense, matte and soft underfoot. There is no fringe; the pile rolls over a rounded edge. Expect some shedding at first. It suits living rooms, bedrooms and calm dining rooms. Sizes run from 2' × 3' to 12' × 15'. There are also 2'6" × 8' and 3' × 12' runners, rounds, squares, two ovals and a 2' × 4' half circle. Custom sizes can be ordered, with a long lead time. The rectangle in the 8' × 10' group measures 7'6" × 9'6", and the 10' round and square measure 9'9". It has no grip back, so use a rug pad. At 0.87 in thick it will not clear most doors, so measure the gap under yours. The largest sizes are heavy and need two people to move. Spot clean only with mild detergent; it is not washable. It is not solution-dyed, so keep it out of strong sun.

How this rug is made, and what it is made of

Construction

Hand tufted

Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material

Wool

Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
