About this rug
This rug sets wide bands of brown and camel against thin ivory pinstripes that run its length in groups of three. Where they cross, the field reads as an even windowpane plaid, orderly and easy to live with. The camel bands carry a soft streak in the yarn, while the brown bands stay deep and solid. It is hand-tufted in India from 100% wool, with a medium pile about 0.4 in high on a canvas back. It is about 0.7 in thick overall, so it feels soft and full underfoot. There is no fringe. The plaid suits a modern living room with warm wood and cream upholstery, and it sits just as well in a farmhouse den or a study. Sizes run from a 2' x 3' mat to 10' x 14', and custom sizes are available, rounds included. The 5' x 7'6" is 6 in shorter than a standard 5' x 8'. Spot clean with water only. New wool sheds for a while, so vacuum often at first. Keep it out of strong sun, and set it on a felt-and-rubber pad to hold it in place.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
