About this rug
This hand-tufted rug draws a windowpane plaid in cream bands over a tan, slubby ground, with a small dark brown block at every crossing. The ground has the streaky, nubby look of natural jute, but the face is 100% wool, so it stays soft underfoot. It is tufted by hand in India on a canvas backing, with a 0.4 in pile and a total thickness of about 0.7 in. The grid runs to the edges with no border and no fringe, so the rug reads as one calm, even pattern across a room. The look sits between farmhouse and modern: warm and relaxed, with clean lines. It works under a sofa and chairs in a living room, beside a bed, or under a dining table in the larger sizes. Sizes run from 2' × 3' to 10' × 14', and custom sizes and rounds can be made. Spot clean only, with water only. Expect some shedding at first, as with most wool rugs. A felt-and-rubber pad keeps it in place, and it is best kept out of strong sun.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
