About this rug
This hand-tufted rug has a 100% wool face and one all-over pattern: narrow upright bars of muted blue-teal cut pile, stacked in rows with the dividers staggered like tiles. The thin off-white lines between them are rows of small, tight loops set a little lower than the bars, so the grid is felt as well as seen. It is soft underfoot, with a 0.31-inch pile. There is no border and no fringe, and the pattern runs right to a teal-bound edge. The product photo is the brightest view. On a wood floor the teal reads softer, grayer and a little bluer, and the close floor photos show the bars longer than the product photo does, so judge the design by both. Made in India, it suits a living room, bedroom or dining room. The 8' × 10' fits an 84-inch sofa group or a queen bed crosswise; the 5 × 8 size measures 5' × 7'6". Care is professional rug cleaning only; it is not washable. New wool sheds at first. At 0.51 inch overall it is thicker than many doors clear, so measure the gap under the door. The cloth back has no grip, so lay it on a rug pad. It arrives rolled, and the large sizes are heavy: plan on two people.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
