About this rug
This hand-tufted rug takes an Oushak design and washes it into quieter colors. Large palmettes and rosettes in cream, camel and soft gold sit on a sage-gray ground, joined by thin ivory vines, with a border of blocky cartouches around the field. The ground has a light streak in the yarn, so it reads soft rather than flat. It is made in India of 100% wool, tufted by hand into a medium pile 0.48 in high on a canvas back, 0.75 in thick overall. The pile is soft underfoot, and the rug is rated for high traffic. Expect some shedding at first, as with most hand-tufted wool rugs. The palette bridges classic and modern rooms. The gold picks up warm wood and brass, and the gray-green ground sits easily with cream, white and soft blue. Sizes run from 2' × 3' to 9' × 12', and custom sizes up to 12' × 18' are available, rounds included. Spot clean only, with water only. A felt-and-rubber pad keeps it in place, since the back has no grip.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
