About this rug
This rug takes a classic Oushak-style design, with large palmettes and leaves joined by thin, wandering vines, and softens it into warm gray, sand, tan and cream. The field is a deep charcoal-gray with a slight brown cast, and a wide sand border frames it. It sits between traditional and modern and works with either. It is hand tufted in India from 100% wool, with a medium pile 0.48 in high and a canvas backing. The pale yarn in the motifs and border has a nubby, slubby texture against the tighter, darker ground, so the pattern shows in the surface as well as the color. It is soft underfoot and rated for high traffic. Sizes run from 2' × 3' to 9' × 12', with an 18" sample square. Custom sizes and rounds can be made. The 5' × 7'6" is 6 in shorter than a standard 5' × 8'. Spot clean only, with water only. Wool sheds at first. The back has no grip, so a felt-and-rubber pad keeps it in place.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
