About this rug
This hand-tufted rug is warm caramel brown, crossed by a windowpane grid. Each line of the grid is a band of fine ivory pinstripes, and where two bands meet, a small caramel square breaks the line. The squares between them are plain pile with a soft ribbed look. The face is 100% wool with a 0.5 in medium pile over a canvas backing, about 0.75 in thick overall. It is soft underfoot and made for high-traffic rooms. Like most hand-tufted wool, it sheds at first. It is made in India. The grid gives a living room, bedroom or dining room pattern without busy color, and the caramel sits well with walnut, brass, cream upholstery and black frames. The 8' x 10' fits an 84 in sofa with chairs, front legs on, or a queen bed laid crosswise. The 5' x 7'6" runs 6 in shorter than a standard 5' x 8'. Spot clean only, with water only. The back has no grip, so lay it on a felt-and-rubber pad. Custom sizes, including rounds, run up to 12' x 18'.
