About this rug
This rug is a modern take on the windowpane check. An olive-gray wool ground is crossed by bands of fine ivory pinstripes, and a small square of the ground color sits at every crossing. From across a room it reads as a calm, tailored grid. Up close, the pinstripes and the ribbed pile give it depth. It is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face and a canvas backing. The medium pile is 1/2" deep and the rug is 3/4" thick overall, so it feels soft and solid underfoot. It is rated for high traffic. The muted palette works with warm wood, black or bronze metal, leather and creamy whites, in a living room, bedroom or study. Sizes run from 2' × 3' to 9' × 12', with an 18" × 18" sample. The 5' × 7'6" is 6" shorter than a standard 5' × 8'. Custom sizes and rounds can be ordered. Spot clean only, with water only. Expect some shedding at first. The back has no grip, so use a felt-and-rubber pad, and keep the rug out of strong direct sun.

Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
