About this rug
This rug draws on the Beni Ourain rugs of Morocco. It has a cream wool ground with open diamonds traced in thin, double charcoal lines, stacked down the center, and a loose run of charcoal dashes along each long side. The lines wander slightly, the way hand-drawn lines do, so the look stays relaxed rather than crisp. It is hand tufted in India from 100% wool, with a pile just under 1 inch and a canvas backing. At about 1 3/4 inches thick overall, it feels plush and springy underfoot. Like most tufted wool, it sheds at first. The yarn is solution-dyed, so the color holds up in a sunny room. Sizes run from a 2' x 3' mat and a 2'6" x 8' runner up to 9' x 12'. Custom sizes can be made, including rounds. The 5' x 7'6" is 6 inches shorter than a standard 5' x 8'. The back has no grip, so lay it on a felt-and-rubber pad. Spot clean only, with no moisture. The deep pile suits a living room or bedroom better than a busy entry, and it is too tall for rolling chairs. Check the gap under any door nearby.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
