About this rug
This hand-tufted rug follows the Beni Ourain rugs of Morocco. A warm cream wool ground carries three open diamonds stacked down the center. They are drawn in thin, slightly uneven taupe lines, and each holds a small diamond mark. Columns of little stacked diamonds run down the long sides, and a band of short taupe dashes finishes each end. The face is 100% wool with a high pile close to an inch deep, so it feels soft and deep underfoot. It is tufted by hand in India onto a canvas backing and stands about 1.75 in thick. Expect some shedding at first. It suits a living room seating area with front legs on, the sides of a bed, or a quiet reading corner where softness matters more than a hard-wearing surface. Sizes run from 2' x 3' to 9' x 12', plus a 2'6" x 8' runner. Custom sizes and rounds can be ordered. The back has no grip, so use a felt-and-rubber pad. Care is spot clean only, with no moisture.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
