Naxos Hand Tufted Rug

About this rug

This rug takes a classic Indo-Persian floral design and softens the color. Gold, camel and rust palmettes and small rosettes sit on a fine vine lattice across a muted sage field, mirrored both ways with no center medallion. A wide ivory border of palmettes and brown leaf sprays, edged by camel guard bands and a narrow sage band, frames the field. It is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face on a canvas backing. The pile is medium, 0.4 in high and 0.6 in thick overall, soft underfoot and matte. Faint shading streaks in the field are part of tufted wool. There is no fringe. Rectangles run from 2' × 3' to 9' × 13', with 2'3" wide runners up to 14' long and 3'6", 6' and 8' rounds; custom sizes can be ordered. The size sold as 8x10 measures 7'6" × 9'6". It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and quiet halls. Spot clean only with mild detergent; it is not washable. New wool sheds at first, so vacuum without a beater bar, and it may smell mildly when new until it airs out. Use a rug pad, since the back has no grip, keep it out of strong sun, and check the gap under doors.
