About this rug
This rug is drawn like a fawn's coat. Off-white spots in ovals, commas and chips drift in soft swirls over a warm sand-tan ground, edge to edge, with no border and no fringe. The contrast is gentle, so from across a room it reads as a warm neutral with texture, and up close as an animal print. It is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face on a canvas backing. The medium pile is dense, matte and soft underfoot, 0.39 in deep on a rug 0.63 in thick overall. New wool sheds at first. Light shading streaks run along the pile and shift with the light, as wool pile does. Each size has its own spot drawing while the spots stay about the same size, so small runners and rounds show fewer, bolder spots. It suits a living room, a bedroom or a calm dining room. The 8' × 10' rectangle is really 7'6" × 9'6". At 0.63 in thick, measure the gap under a door before laying it in a door swing. It has no grip back, so use a cushioned felt pad. The color moves with the light: more golden in warm sun, grayer and a little darker in cool daylight. Spot clean only with mild detergent; it is not washable. It is not solution-dyed, so keep it out of strong sun. The large sizes are heavy, up to 160 lb, so plan on two people to move them.

Construction
Hand tufted
Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
