About this rug
This hand-woven rug sets large angled blocks of ivory, cream, wheat and a pale rosy beige against each other, with no border and no fringe. The diagonal seams meet off-center, so the design reads as modern and geometric. The colors sit close together, so the whole rug stays quiet from across the room. The face is 80% wool with a 3/4" pile that is soft and a little plush underfoot. The wheat blocks have a nubby, looped surface and the ivory blocks a longer cut pile, so the shapes show in texture as well as color. It is rated for high traffic and made in India. It goes in the washing machine. Sizes over about 5' × 7' need a large-capacity front-loader or a laundromat. Wool sheds at first. The rug has no grip back, so lay it on a cushioned felt pad. At 0.8" thick, it may not clear a low door. Choose 2' × 3', a 2'6" × 8' runner, 5' × 7', 6' × 9' or 8' × 10', or an 18" sample. Custom sizes run from 15' × 25' to 18' × 30', round included.

Construction
Hand woven
Woven by hand on a loom, warp and weft interlaced row by row. Most hand-woven rugs are flatweaves with no pile to crush or shed, so they stay low, light and easy to move: right for busy rooms, hallways and dining tables.

Material
Wool
Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
