About this rug

This rug is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face on a canvas back. An ivory ground carries a loose grid of broken lines in heathered warm gray, flecked with taupe. The lines cross and stop at uneven points, so the grid looks sketched by hand rather than ruled. From across a room it reads as a light gray-ivory with a quiet texture. It is calm enough to sit under patterned pillows, wood furniture or a busy art wall, and it suits a modern or Scandinavian living room, bedroom or dining room. The pile is low at 0.28 in, and the rug is 0.55 in thick overall. It is pet friendly and works with most robot vacuums. It feels firm and flat underfoot rather than plush. Choose from 2' x 3', 5' x 7'6" and 8' x 10'. The 5' x 7'6" is 6 inches shorter than a standard 5' x 8'. Custom sizes and rounds can be made. Spot clean only, with water only, and keep it out of strong sun. Expect some shedding at first. The back has no grip, so use a thin grip pad.

How this rug is made, and what it is made of

Construction

Hand tufted

Yarn is punched through a canvas with a hand-held tufting tool, then sheared to an even, plush pile and backed for strength. It has the look and feel of a knotted rug, made in weeks rather than months, at a gentler price.

Material

Wool

Naturally springy, so the pile stands back up after furniture and footsteps. Its lanolin helps it shed spills and dirt, it holds deep color for decades, and New Zealand wool, used in many of our rugs, is among the softest grades.
