The low contrast keeps it calm from across a room.\n\nIt is hand tufted in India with a 100% wool face on a canvas backing. The medium pile is 1\/2 inch of curly wool loops, with the motifs a little fuller than the ground, and the rug is 3\/4 inch thick overall. It is soft underfoot, springy rather than plush. Like most new wool, it sheds at first.\n\nThe 8' × 10' suits an 84-inch sofa with chairs, front legs on, a queen bed set crosswise or a six-seat dining table. The 9' × 12' takes a larger group or a king bed, and the 5' × 7'6\" a loveseat corner. The back has no grip, so use a felt-and-rubber pad. With the pad the rug stands nearly 1 inch tall, too thick for most doors.\n\nSpot clean only, with water only. It is not washable, and the pale ground shows spills.
