6x9 Rugs

A 6x9 rug covers 54 square feet, a foot more in each direction than a 5x8. That is enough to ground a small living room or frame a queen bed. Every rug here is handmade: about seven in ten are wool, and half are hand-knotted.

Where does a 6x9 rug fit?
In a small living room, set a 6x9 under the coffee table with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug. In a larger room, or around a sectional, step up to an 8x10. Under a queen bed, a 6x9 laid sideways leaves about two feet of rug on each side.

Every knot in a hand-knotted rug is tied by hand, row by row. That makes the pile dense, so it holds its shape under daily foot traffic and lasts for years, which is why hand-knotted wool suits the rooms you use most.
